Anthony Jenkins

Pastor Anthony Lawrence Jenkins, Sr., is a native of Oakland, California. He was baptized at Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church where he attended Sunday School and church services during his youth. He is a graduate of Skyline High School in Oakland. He was called into ministry in February, 1998, and graduated in 2002 from Trinity College & Seminary in Indiana, with a BA Degree in Theology. He graduated in 2009, from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, earning a Master of Divinity Degree.

Pastor Anthony (as he likes to be called) returned to Oakland in April, 2003, and began assisting Rev. Ron Swisher, the pastor of Taylor Memorial UMC. Pastor Anthony was appointed as Pastor at Calvary UMC in San Francisco, California in July 2006, and continued there until 2010. The Bishop of California/Nevada Conference (Bishop Warner Brown) appointed, him as pastor of First United Methodist of Tracy in 2010. Pastor Anthony's, great passion is studying the Word of God, and he readily turns to Scripture for his source of theological , and life grounding. He is a dynamic, and energetic preacher who is dedicated to helping others know and experience the awesome power of God's Forgiveness, Love, and Word. Pastor Anthony has been instrumental in initiating outreach programs at First UMC. Such as their annual free Pre-Thanksgiving dinner, and the free Sunday Breakfast program, to name a few. These ministries were birthed, to help eradicate hunger, within persons who live inside the Tracy California community. Pastor Anthony has, and continues to counsel residents at Bay Area halfway houses, and is a certified Chaplain at the Contra Costa County Jail in Richmond California. He remains active in his community, utilizing his God-given "evangelism skills."

Pastor Anthony is married to Valerie (Lipscomb) Jenkins and together they have a blended family, and are blessed with three grandchildren. Pastor's hobbies are fishing, restoring classic cars and taking leisurely rides on his motorcycle.
